Unlocking future seasonpass phases with tokens

So, since rematch launch I thought the seasonpass system is hilarious, since the locked phases make it extremely unrewarding for active players to unlock the stuff in the pass because of the phases. For active players, the pass usually goes like this: season comes out -> grind the first phase in the first week -> grind enough tokens for the rest of the pass before the second phase even unlocks -> insta unlock everything as soon as phase 2 starts and that's it. This means that only for week, you're actively grinding for the pass and working towards the items you want.

I get that this system probably exists so less active players have reasons to come back to the game every month, but for the players that are active troughout the whole season this is just a huge letdown. So my idea is the following:

Raise the token cap again, and make the future pass unlockable with a balanced amount of tokens that's realistically reachable for active players to unlock the future phases maybe a week or two before the actual phases start. This way, active players keep a reason for grinding for these tokens and have something to work towards, while less active players might know they just aren't able to reach these numbers, so they'd rather just come back once the timelock gets removed.
