Penalty for being "offside"
There should be some sort of penalty for being offside to discourage goal-hanging/cherry picking.
My suggestion would be that offside players can't regenerate stamina, or a stamina-drain from being offside.
Too many people still refuse to defend and just sit in the opponent's half until their team wins the ball back, and then spam the call for pass button.

There already is a penalty and it is that the team cherry-picking is at a disadvantage when defending. I don't like this play style but the risk is baked into playing "offside", because if you turn the ball over, it becomes much easier for opponents score with one defender down. I don't think this is the fix for cherry-pickers. -

Gabrielei give you one scenario: as a team we had an action where we gave it all, a player on the wing had to sprint to make a cross happen and is now without stamina. the opponents intercepted the cross andd now they are counter attacking. the winger cant regenerate stamina and cant go back to try and catch up with the counter. I am sorry but your suggestion doesnt really work

Exsavitatorthis will make high level competitive play extremely boring by basically completely killing off quick counter attacks. Also this will cause more teams to put everyone inside the box to defend which nobody likes to play against

antThe only way this would work properly is if you do the reverse sweeper method.
For instance if You're keeper and come out of the box you get the sweeper title and it works very well for making defensive plays. If you want to implement offsides it would work the same, except you get a smaller stamina bar and less extra effort unless you reset the ball by passing to another teammate that was onside at the time of the pass. This would give the defense a slight advantage to the defense to out pace offside players without crippling offense for users that don't really understand the offside rule. It would definitely feel more like football this way but I don't really think it needs to be focused on.
